Amber Matheson
Amber has more than eight years of legal experience and has specialised exclusively in Family Law since 2022. Amber undertakes all family law work and has particular experience dealing with complex divorce cases involving international assets, high value property, complex investments and public sector pensions (including military and teacher’s pension schemes, particularly after the McCloud Remedy Period). She is also experienced in obtaining leave to relocate children within and outside the jurisdiction of England and Wales.
Amber’s expertise also includes the protection of wealth by way of nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements. She also advises upon separation agreements, the enforcement of court orders and 'Schedule 1' cases, providing financial provision of children.
Amber takes a pragmatic approach to her cases, providing clear, jargon-free advice from the outset and setting realistic expectations as to the potential outcomes. Amber always considers what action is necessary and proportionate, being sensitive to incurring unnecessary legal fees.
Amber is a meticulous litigator but is also able to settle the vast majority of her cases outside of court, including via mediation, round table meetings and arbitration, keeping client privacy in mind. She has acted for a range of clients, from business owners, international clients, well known sportspeople and parents in need of help. All of Amber's clients are treated with the utmost respect, regardless of their background.
Amber was selected as a top “Young Legal Flyer” in the South East in 2024 (Insider Media, 2024) and as “Rising Star of the Year” (Surrey Law Society, 2022). She is a member of Resolution and is committed to resolving matters constructively and outside of court wherever possible. She has been on the Surrey Young Resolution Committee since 2024 and is on the Committee for the Surrey Association of Women Solicitors.
