Successful Resolution through constructive communication

Child Arrangements

When parents separate as a consequence of the breakdown of their own relationship, it is vitally important that they recognise the need to continue to co-parent their children together. This is not always easy, particularly if the breakdown of the parents’ relationship has been painful or acrimonious.

Arrangements for children will establish how much time the child/children should spend with each of their parents. Following divorce both parents retain parental responsibility and remain equally involved in the upbringing of their child/children. There may however be occasions where the parents are unable to agree. Under the Children Act 1989 applications can be made to deal with specific issues or to prevent one parent from taking a particular action (prohibited steps).

As a consequence of government cuts the Court system had become even more vulnerable to delay. In the short life of a child this can be critical.

If an application to Court is inevitable, we will drive that process forwards for you. We shall however also explore alternative options, intended to improve communication within your family and to help you and your former partner work together as parents in the best interests of your children and their long term development.
